Register for the China National Round
As an official NEC test center for the China National Round (CNEC), we guide teams through eligibility, division choice and registration — and provide official preparation materials for the season.
How registration works
Form your team
Teams of four (2–4 for the PRE division). Cross-school teams allowed, with one home school for records.
Choose your division
PRE, David Ricardo or Adam Smith, by economics background. One change allowed before the deadline.
Register & prepare
Complete registration through the test center and receive official preparation materials.

Eligibility & participation
- Teams only. NEC is a team competition — there is no individual entry.
- By experience. PRE suits students new to economics; David Ricardo and Adam Smith are chosen by coursework completed.
- Overseas students. May compete in the regional and China rounds; global advancement follows the official rules.
Not sure which division fits your team? We’ll review your year groups and economics background and recommend the strongest entry.
Choose how your team takes part
For the Critical Thinking component, teams choose the mode that matches how much guided support they want.
Independent
Your team researches and builds the case analysis on its own, following the official evaluation guidelines — the traditional route for experienced teams.
Guided
Added structure and support through the case-analysis process — a good fit for first-time teams who want a clear framework.

Common questions
How do I register a team?
Form a team, choose your division, and complete registration through our CNEC-authorized test center, which then provides official preparation materials.
Can a team have students from different schools?
Yes. Cross-school teams are allowed as long as everyone registers in the same division, with one designated home school for records and honours.
Can we change team members after registering?
Team members can be changed only before the registration deadline. After that, the team on record is final.
What comes with registration?
